CASE STUDY 4: PATCHWORK CENTRAL

All not-for-profits face continuing funding challenges and Patchwork Central, an Evansville, IN neighborhood community outreach organization serving inner-city needs for over 27 years, was no exception.

“At one time we had a manual accounting system and a full-time bookkeeper in-house,” relates Executive Director Mike Cashman.  “As we added programs and services, we were faced with the prospect of having to buy a computerized accounting package, which would have diverted funds needed for our programs.”

“Lieberman Technologies moved Patchwork’s entire general ledger and accounts payable system to Lieberman,” says Cashman. “Now, we input receipts and initiate a request for payment to our vendors. Lieberman Technologies makes the necessary accounting entries and generates checks for payment to our vendors.  Lieberman also facilitates the Patchwork payroll through a national payroll service. Lieberman handles all the accounting and generates weekly and monthly reports for us.”

Mike is deeply grateful for Lieberman’s assistance. “We provide after-school programs for children Monday through Friday, tutoring Monday through Thursday for kids throughout the city, arts and music programs, a nutrition program for children in grades 1-5, and many more programs.  We couldn’t provide all those services if we had to maintain an accounting system
in-house.  Lieberman has not only been a benefactor, they’ve been great
to work with. They always go the extra mile for us.”
