As a supplier of industrial bearings, chains, gaskets, and gears, Tri-State Bearing serves a wide range of businesses in eight locations. In order to better serve their customer base, Tri-State Bearing sought to improve connectivity between their eight locations and provide improved business continuity and disaster recovery by moving their technology into the cloud.
Instead of upgrading hardware and infrastructure at each Tri-State Bearing location, the client looked to the partnership of Lieberman Technologies and the local data center to move their servers and workstations to a hosted service. This is significantly cost-efficient over the replacement of equipment, and allows each location immediate access to company data as needed.
In order to help create this hosted environment for Tri-State Bearing, Lieberman consulted with the customer and their data center vendor to design a virtualized environment for servers and workstations using VMware technology. Lieberman also consulted in the design and configuration of virtualized desktop operating systems on the VMware platform, testing application usage and network access. Lieberman recommended and implemented thin client hardware to replace traditional workstations, moving data and applications to hosted servers and desktops in the centrally managed secure data center. In establishing this cloud environment, Lieberman configured file/folder structure, access, and roaming profiles for all users, and reconfigured printing for the entire organization.
“When we decided to abandon most of our personal computers for virtual desktops we contracted Lieberman Technologies to make the move for us”
Moving Your Entire Computer System to a Virtual Environment
Making the move from individual desktops to a virtual environment takes careful planning in order to be successful. Selecting a company with extensive experience in this area is critical. “When we decided to abandon most of our personal computers for virtual desktops we contracted Lieberman Technologies to make the move for us,” says Tri State Bearing’s Greg Elsner. “Clay Powell was in charge of moving all of the data from each computer to the virtual environment. The move went very smoothly and in a very timely manner. We since have used Lieberman for everyday issues and they have always responded quickly and professionally.”
“I would recommend Lieberman Technologies for helping with your IT needs.”
Moving data and technology into a hosted (cloud) environment is becoming more prevalent across all industries. In addition to reducing data loss in the event of a disaster, outsourcing maintenance and upgrades creates a more efficient work environment. With access to up-to-date company data across all locations, Tri-State Bearing is better able to serve its customer base. The hosted environment provides secure data management, including backups, without the significant expense of a company-wide hardware and infrastructure upgrade.
The hosted environment has been greatly successful for Tri State Bearing. Says Elsner: “I would recommend Lieberman Technologies for helping with your IT needs.”
